MANILA — Pia Wurtzbach, the most recent Filipino Miss Universe titlist prior to Catriona Gray, has become a major star with back-to-back films and hosting stints since her 2015 win.

Gray, who is still in the early months of her Miss Universe reign, is likely to follow in Wurtzbach’s foot steps and has even been vocal of wanting to pursue a music career.

While the entire year is dedicated to her Miss Universe duties, already Gray has received an offer to star in a film from comedy superstar Vice Ganda, at least in jest.

The exchange happened Sunday night during Gray’s “Raise Your Flag” homecoming event at the Araneta Coliseum, where Vice Ganda had a half-hour segment interviewing the beauty queen.

“Bagay pala tayo sa isang frame, ano?” Vice Ganda told Gray as he caught a glimpse of a monitor on the side of the stage. “Vice and Cat. Ay, parang puwede tayong tandem!”

“Noong nanalo si Pia, nakapakasuwerte ko kasi pinagbigyan ako ni Pia Wurtzbach na sumama sa pelikula ko,” he said, referring to the 2017 blockbuster “Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad.” “Baka puwedeng tayo naman ang susunod?”

Gray replied in the affirmative, prompting Vice Ganda to come up with a portmanteau of their names for their tandem. “Vice and Cat — ang pangalan ng team-up natin, ‘VaCat’!” he said, prompting laughs from the audience.

The fun-filled interview covered a range of topics, from Gray’s fiercest competitors in Miss Universe to her “imperfections.” She even took on a question that produced the winning answer of Miss Universe 1973 Margie Moran.

“Raise Your Flag for Catriona Gray” will be telecast on ABS-CBN on March 10.
