‘She offered to leave me after our third attempt at IVF failed. I just told her I loved her and I would never leave her, even if I would never be a dad,’ Thurston told the Daily Telegraph.

‘My heart broke for her,’ Thurston said.

In 2011, with Thurston then aged 29 and Samantha, 36, the couple decided they wanted to have children.

The pair suffered a miscarriage soon after while holidaying in Hawaii, with Thurston describing Samantha as ‘broken’ and saying they stayed shut in their hotel room dealing with the grief for the rest of the trip.

A second miscarriage followed later that year and the pair decided to try IVF.

Their first three rounds of treatment were unsuccessful.
