But with a few months to go until the film hits screens, the pair joined forces for a little sing song – and by the looks of it Sir Elton couldn’t have been prouder as he got behind the piano, watching on as the actor blasted out one of his best-loved tunes.
In awe of the situation, the 29-year-old Kingsman actor says in the video: “It’s funny how life turns out, isn’t it?”
Elton, meanwhile, sits there beaming like a proud mum. It’s adorable.
The incredible performance took place during the 27th annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party, which was – unsurprisingly – hosted the singer and his partner David Furnish.
As well as the spine-tingling duet, the star-studded event raised more than $6.3 million for the global effort to end AIDS.
While the teaser trailer, released back in October, gave us short glimpses of actor Taron Egerton in action as the eccentric singer, this first full-length version is giving much more away with regards to the plot and Elton John’s rise to fame – and, of course, shows off more of those incredible outfits.
It also gave audiences a clip of Egerton performing Elton John classic ‘Your Song’ for the first time, which gave us all the chills, while ‘Benny and the Jets’ and ‘Tiny Dancer’ can be heard later on in the trailer.

Egerton has previously explained the film isn’t the biopic many might expect, and has instead referred to it as a ‘fantasy musical’.
Last year he told Collider: “We are making a movie called Rocketman about Elton John’s formative years. Everyone thinks it’s a biopic. It isn’t. It’s a fantasy musical so it’s actually his songs used to express important beats in his life at emotional moments. He’s not the only character that sings. It’s going to be fun.”
Rocketman is out in the UK on 24 May, and is also released in America on 31 May.
